Religion in my life

Hi everyone, in todays blog I will be sharing with you the way religion has presented and impact my life, especially as a queer person.

My family are christians but not big fans of religion, they believe in god but they don’t talk about it all the time. Still religion is something important to them, so in a way religion has always been present in my life. I remember when I was a child, and I got scared at night before going to bed, so my parents prayed with me until I felt relieved. That really worked for me for a long time, making my relation with religion something good that helped me feel better when I needed it.

Sadly that didn’t last long. When I became a teenager I began to discover myself, the things that I liked, and what makes me happy. I presented to the world as a queer non binary person, and  with that also came a realization of what it means to be the way i am, i also realized that religion and religious people (like my parent) wheren’t going to accept me, and that i was going to be in many uncomfortable and hard situations because of religious people that are hateful and use their religion as a valid reason to do what they do. Because of this I took distance from religion and I found comfort in other things.

I know that religion isn't a bad thing, but what people do sometimes in the name of it is one the most horrendous and disgusting things i've ever experienced.

  1. Its something what really dislike about the religion in generally, its going for over there with a kind comunitty message of acceptability and bla bla but later have this attitude of rejection about different thought. For example when my grandma died my uncle did not enter to mass for be of another religion, being what other persons in the same situation did it. I dont undertand this attitude what bring the religion.

  2. Hi, Dani! I think that many times people justify their intolerance behind religion, and that's the bad thing about it, believing in God can be very comforting for many people, but it's the church that brainwashes them and makes people little tolerant.

  3. I agree with you that many religions are inconsistent with their acts. Some even blessed war against the people that profess their same religion. Sad :(
